‘m sorry to say, at least for the businesses I wrote this for, I really dont recommend. I talked with many site builders, and a fair number of people that have had really bad luck. I would say that a local designer, with store front ETC the price would be likely $2000-$5000. I dont think it would be worth for most small businesses and I’ve also heard horror stories. I’ve also heard bad stories about Jimmy down the street or Sue’s grandson. Most meant well it just turned in a longer process and at the end no one was really happy. These are likely $50 $100 favors. Use an online builder and save a few hours. You can build it as easy as you can explain it.
I’ve had several people ask me to build the websites, and that ship has largely sailed. It was mostly friends and I was trying not to really consider my time, expectations and changes became more than I wanted to mess with, DIY! I remember one friend saying he wanted pictures, and if you read in order you know I think they are needed. For months this went on, I said get me pictures on any device or I’ll even come do it, but you have to go through this one step before I can start, so stop asking if its done.
I really do believe that ANYONE that can run a business can now days build a site. No it wont be the fanciest site on the block and it wont have all the bells and whistles. Thats for you to decide if you like your results. Just like the little new store I say yesterday. I would say that having a site made me 50% more likely to go to the store. Now it will likely be a while before I go because his slogan was bit cheesy for my taste, and his prices just not that great. He had almost zero chance of me going without. I am looking to buy about $250, one person will likely cover all your expenses.
